Lindsey Marie Runge

Lindsey Marie Runge, Born Dec.9, 1992, and passed away on Sep. 3, 2006. Lindsey was just 13 years old. She was my sister's best friend and died because of us.....

My step dad owned a farm in Sodus, Michigan. Every day my sister Desiree and I were out there riding ATV's and playing with farm animals. One night my sister decided she wanted to have a friend over. We went to the movies that night, and came home and passed out.

The next day, we were planning on going to church, but none of us woke up on time. Looking back, I wish we would have gone to church... that would have changed everything.

We went over to a neighbors house, and decided we wanted to go back to the farm. My sister, Lindsey and I were all on one ATV, a Honda 250, and we let Lindsey drive. We all had helmets, strapped and secured. But we went around a corner too quickly, and the ATV rolled. It landed on Lindsey. It broke my left arm, and severely damaged my right arm. Luckily my sister was unharmed. About 5 hours after the accident I was being checked out of the hospital and I was talking to my father, when I heard my step-dad say to his parents "I'd like to go to the funeral". I lost it. I couldn't believe that she was really gone. To make things worse, as we were walking out of the hospital doors, Lindsey's family walked out too. It was an emotionally time, and I don't think anyone is anywhere close to healing. Even after all this time.
